Wanderlust is one of the 4 story event chains that can take place very early. It is extremely rare, having only a 1% chance of taking place in a game. The event chain is completely linear, each event leading only to the next until the event chain is over.

Wanderlust

The Head of the [empire name]'s Physics Research Department has gone missing.

Along with their privately-funded, highly experimental prototype Science Ship.

The incident has the scientific community on [capital name] in an uproar.

Trigger conditions:

Not Gestalt Consciousness

Mean time to happen:

Time 10 days

How odd.
  • Scientist assigned to leading Physics Research Physics research disappears

Wanderlust: With Purpose

The whereabouts of the Head - now technically the former Head of Physics Research - have yet to be ascertained. Certain details regarding the prototype Science Ship and the Head's private research have reached our ears, and while some aspects seem too fantastical to be true, it is clear that it is in the [empire name]'s interest to find and recover the Chair as soon as possible.

The Situation Log has been updated.

Trigger conditions:

Wanderlust

Mean time to happen:

Time 30 days

Very well.
  • Adds 3 systems 1-5 hyperlanes away as points of interest in the Situation Log

Wanderlust: Dead End

The Department Head is not in this system.

Either the lead was a dud, or the trail has gone cold.

Trigger conditions:

Wanderlust: With Purpose

Is triggered only by:

Entering the first two point of interest systems

We will keep looking.

Wanderlust: The Drones

The Chair has vanished, inexplicably, yet again.

However, they did leave a number of drones behind, as promised. The drones are armed, and their weapons are powering up!

Trigger conditions:

Wanderlust: Dead End

Is triggered only by:

Entering the last point of interest systems

Battlestations!
  • 2 hostile Ancient Mining Drones appear above the system's star

Wanderlust: The Drones Destroyed

The drones' IFF modules had been removed, likely a result of the Head Physicist's repairs, but their threat assessment processors remained intact and somewhat stressed by the Head's invasive procedures.

It is unlikely that the head meant for the drones to attack us, but fact remains that they covered the scientist's escape nicely.

Consult the Situation Log for a Special Project to track the Head from their last known location.

Trigger conditions:

Wanderlust: The Drones

Is triggered only by:

Defeating the Ancient Mining Drones fleet

OK
  • Issue Special Project: What Was Left Behind

Wanderlust: Special Project Completed

Having decoded the intricate web of energy signatures left behind by the Chair's elusive Science Ship, we are on their trail once again.

Consult the Situation Log for details.

Trigger conditions:

Wanderlust: The Drones Destroyed

Is triggered only by:

Finishing the What Was Left Behind special project

OK
  • Adds a system 3-8 hyperlanes away as point of interest in the Situation Log

Wanderlust: The Blinds

A quick check confirms the Head's claims, and the [empire name] has enjoyed a small but not insignificant boost to our collective body of physics research.

The Physicist has vanished once again, but this time their course had been divined before they were even out of the system.

If they are headed for this Window, then so are we.

Consult the Situation Log for details.

Trigger conditions:

Wanderlust: Special Project Completed

Is triggered only by:

Entering the The Hunt Continues point of interest system

OK
  • Physics Research Gained: Physics Research 350-100000
  • Adds a system 3-8 hyperlanes away as point of interest in the Situation Log

Wanderlust: The Window Closes

The Science Ship is empty.

All suits for extra-vehicular activity remain in their pods, and the ship logs state that the airlock has never been exit-cycled.

The ship still orbits the star, but is now under [main species adjective] control.

Trigger conditions:

Wanderlust: The Blinds

Is triggered only by:

Entering the The Window point of interest system

An unnerving end.
  • Gain a Science Ship
  • The Extradimensional Invaders crisis is 50% more likely to occur
