Propulsion Proponent Proclamation is a brief pre-FTL civilization event chain that can trigger if a pre-FTL civilization is being observed. It can only happen once per game. Getting the event chain is necessary to unlock the No Good Deed achievement.

Propulsion Proponent Proclamation

We have received reports of superluminal spacecraft propulsion on [pre-FTL world name]. The inhabitants seem intent on becoming a full-fledged spacefaring civilization. What they discover in the stars may prove too much for them to comprehend.

Trigger conditions:
  • Not 100 Awareness
  • Pre-FTL Civilization reached Early Space Age
Mean time to happen:

Time 166 years

Fascinating.
  • +30 Observation Insights situation progress
  • Next Insight will be a Physics Research Physics technology unless all were already discovered
  • A space station appears above the pre-FTL civilization's homeworld

Much To Gain, Yet Much to Lose

The existence of a theoretically FTL-capable craft on [pre-FTL world name] is now confirmed. They have moved on to testing, hoping to soon break the light speed barrier.

If they are successful, they will technically be ready to engage in galactic diplomacy. Such an encounter is sure to have profound effects on their society, for good or ill.

Trigger conditions:
  • Propulsion Proponent Proclamation
Mean time to happen:

Time 500 days

They are not ready. Sabotage their mission.
  • A ship appears next to the pre-FTL space station
  • +10 Observation Insights situation progress
  • If the Non-interference Act resolution has been passed the empire will be in breach of galactic law for 10 years
We grow weary. Speed them along on their way.

Fanatic Xenophile They must learn on their own. Observe from a distance.

Complete Separation

The aspiring spacefarers on [pre-FTL world name] attempted to break the light speed barrier. The whole world looked on as the spacecraft launched towards the stars.

Liftoff was a success. Everything was operating within expected parameters. Then they engaged their warp drive and things took a turn.

They successfully distorted the shape of the space-time continuum (a fascinating but flawed approach to breaking the light speed barrier), however they were only successful in doing this in the aft section of the craft. The resulting carnage was beyond anything the inhabitants of [pre-FTL world name] could have ever imagined. The crew was violently distorted, fixed in one part of space, whilst simultaneously having other parts of themselves stretched into the future.

It could be some time before they are ready for a second attempt.

Trigger conditions:
  • Much To Gain, Yet Much to Lose
  • Gained Observation Insights situation progress
Mean time to happen:

Time 1000 days

As expected. Their failure was inevitable.
  • The pre-FTL ship and space station are destroyed
  • Pre-FTL civilization regresses to Atomic Age
Fanatic Xenophile Had we warned them, they would be spacefarers now...

Spacefaring Commences

The people of [pre-FTL world name] have made remarkable progress on their experimental jump drive, however there were some glaring mistakes in their calculations relating to the projected range of their space-time distortion generator. By engaging in direct communication, we were able to guide them towards the accepted method of faster than light travel via hyperlane network.

Following our advice, [pre-FTL world name] will soon join us as a galactic spacefaring society.

Trigger conditions:
  • Much To Gain, Yet Much to Lose
  • Did not gain Observation Insights situation progress
Mean time to happen:

Time 1000 days

We await their arrival into the wider galactic community.
  • +10 Observation Insights situation progress
  • +750 Permanent Opinion with the pre-FTL civilization
  • Pre-FTL civilization gains 100 Awareness
  • If the Non-interference Act resolution has been passed the empire will be in breach of galactic law for 10 years and gain the No Good Deed achievement if in ironman mode

Among Us

The inhabitants of [pre-FTL world name] have joined the wider galactic community as a spacefaring society!

Our observation mission now concludes, as they are now FTL capable.

Trigger conditions:
  • Spacefaring Commences

They would do well to stay out of our way.
  • Pre-FTL civilization's homeworld is annexed
Fanatic Xenophile Welcome to the galaxy.
